Introduction

As some of you are aware, this lovely forum has a built in Stock Market where you can buy or sell shares of different (what I assume to be) in-game companies. If you have not known this until now, go check it out!

Where to start?

Most of you are probably wondering "What do I do there? How can I make profit? Where do I start?", and to that my friends, I got the right answer for you!

General Information

Here is an image of one of the companies, including pretty much everything you will see about it.
The image was taken on 11th May 2016.

You might be wondering, what do these names and numbers mean.

Monitoring

I have bought 1 unit of each company's (the ones that are currently visible) shares and have made a sheet on it recently (only started monitoring it a few days ago). I have no clue what I am doing but in the process I got to learn how to use Google Docs, so I got that going for me, which is nice.

Help request

If anyone knows what everything means on the stock market, all the names and numbers, and how to use this information (which I log daily) and make profit out of it, or just simply teach me, and the others (or just me, I'm a selfish prick sometimes), how to "play" this game of big boy business people, I would be more than happy, and I am willing to offer my services (such as making the public sheet private for just us, or paying some aether cash).

Things on the sheet: Each current visible companies name, the dates I have checked (I always check them everyday at 12:00 GMT+2), the value of a unit of stock for the company, and a sheet graph showing their value over time.

As someone that casually plays the irl stock market, I believe I know what most of these are. A stock has a face value of how much they can be bought or sold for. That is called the 'bid' in this case. It is also displayed on the top right of the company card. Volume is the amount of purchasable shares. 'Previous close' is the amount the stocks bid was worth when the market closes, and the open bid is how much it was when it opened today (in the real world, the stock market closes and trades can't be made, but the slight difference between close and open prices resembles the change in the overall company's value, which still can change overnight). Day's low and highs are self explanatory, but for sake of clarity it's simply just how high/low the Bid price has been today. Now, I'm not sure what P/E is.

In the stock market you want to find trends on certain company's shares increasing in value. If you buy a share at a low cost, and it's value spikes, you will profit by the difference of what you bought it for and how much it is when you sell it. That is why the #1 saying in the stock market is "Buy low, sell high". I don't know if it is possible in a virtual stock market, but you typically want to predict stock changes. For example, you would know that in the summer, a clothing store that sells swimming suits is gonna raise in value. On the virtual market, I think we have to rely on trends, meaning if you're recording stock values each day, you should try to make a graph of the bid value and observe if it on a downward trend or an upward trend. If its on a steep downward trend, you don't want to purchase that stock. If its on an upward trend, purchase that and a lot of it. Now, what goes up must come down, so when you buy a stock with an upward trend, you want to monitor it carefully, and make sure that you sell it when it starts trending downward. This is to maximize profits. There is also a strategy of day-betting where you buy a stock and sell it the moment it has some profit. This allows you to buy and sell more, but your profits won't be high unless you're really efficient.

Thank you! This helped me (and, hopefully, other readers) a lot.

With all this knowledge, I am going to do some major changes to the spreadsheet and possibly post a live spreadsheet (if it's possible to display google sheets here updated live).

UPDATE: I can't seem to import the data from the stock market onto google sheets, as none of the tables are the actual values. I mostly get things like:

If anyone figures out how to import the table or individual values into Google Sheets, or simply tell me where the values that I am looking for are (Henry I'm looking at you), I will be very thankful to them.

UPDATE 2: Waiting on Henry to give me some insight on the values of the market, and if they can be retrieved and put into the spreadsheet.
